Dollar Tree 2 Introduction According to the 2018 Fortune 500 List, Dollar Tree is ranked 134 (up two spots from the previous year). I have chosen this company simply because it is my youngest daughter’s favorite and I did not think too many of my peers would chose it as well. I found their mission statement on their main website and it is quoted as the following: “Dollar Tree, Inc. is a customer-oriented, value-driven variety store operating at a one dollar price point. We will operate profitably, empower our associates to share in its opportunities, rewards and successes; and deal with others in an honest and considerate way. The company’s mission will be consistent with measured and profitable growth” (Mission Statement, n.d.). Dollar Tree operates using a two-part Cost Leadership Strategy comprised of both Business and Growth Strategy business models. Both are made up of several key points listed in Part I of their annual Form 10-K. Their Cost Leadership strategy revolves around the idea of striving to surpass their customers’ “expectations of the variety and quality of products that they can purchase for $1.00 by offering items” that usually sell at other places for higher costs (U, n.d.).

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
