Human SexualityCHFD220 IO10 Fall 17Dr. RichardsonPopular Culture’s Perception of Sexuality and AgingThrough the natural aging process, we as people eventually start falling into the elderly community category. Due to this process, society gets this conception that the elderly community stops partaking in sexual activities due to their bodies having less energy than the youthful community, as well as not having the “spark” of the romantic relationship as they first did in their earlier years. The fact of the matter is that the elderly community still partakes in sexual activities, but it just isn’t as publicized as much as other materials through social media, and because of this, when it is talked about around the younger public, the younger community view it as a gross and disturbing act. This should not come off asabnormal or as taboo and to break down why I believe the stigma of the older community engaging in sexual activities should diminish, I will approach it in the physiological, psychological and social aspects to explain the sexual development in our modern day communities. Before I dive into all three aspects, I will convey in my opinion what the attached media cartoon’smessage is trying to send out to its audience. As you can see, the elderly couple is eager to engage in sexual intercourse as displayed in their smiles in the picture. The image doesn’t necessarily state whose birthday it is, but you can obviously tell that both are in agreement in engaging into sexual intercourse.
