Role as a prosecutor
To avoid wasting too much time on the case by taking the case all the way to trial, the
plea offer that I would give Mario is to plead guilty to charges of
driving under influence
(DUI) and also for drug possession that is methamphetamine and in return his sentence will
be reduced to 6 months, $500 fine, 3 months drug education and 6 months suspension of
driving licence. The main factor considered when making this plea is the fact Mario is
obviously guilty of the two crimes. First, he had methamphetamine which is considered an
illegal drug in the United States. The laws that govern the possession of narcotics such as
methamphetamine in the United States are very strict.
With such kind of a crime alone it is possible for Mario to serve a maximum jail term
of up to five years in prison, a hefty fine of up to $25000, losing the driver’s license and also
being subject to compulsory drug education and rehabilitation (Scheb & Scheb, 2014).
Second, Mario obviously had too much to drink before driving. The 0.08 and 0.09 blood
alcohol level recorded is a very high level of alcohol content. In the United States when an
