HOLACRACY 2 Abstract This research paper provides the thorough investigation and understanding of Holacracy but also the overall course objective of leading teams. The team included American Military University students Lisa Henninger, Sean Grimes, Douglas Bellew and Kaleo Cambra. The team approached the project as a joint effort with divided responsibilities among team members. The first step in initializing the team project was identifying role assignments of each member so that expectations were clear. The roles identified included Team Leader, Team Editor, Team Visionary and Task Manager. The Team Leader role was assigned to Lisa Henninger to maintain communication and have effective oversight of the team’s progress. The Team Editor role was assigned to Sean Grimes who reviewed the team’s final research paper submission for accuracy and APA formatting. The Team Visionary role was assigned to Douglas Bellew who focused on the PowerPoint presentation and final submission. The Task Manager role was assigned to Kaleo Cambra to track deadlines and processes so that the entire team stayed on task. In addition to the assigned roles each member, they also took responsibility for answering a question required of the final paper. Individually, they were responsible for researching their area, constructing informative slides and providing a submission for the final paper. As a team, everyone was able to fulfill their roles and actively participate in the creation of the final product which resulted in learning more than the subject of Holacracy but how to lead a team into success. However, the approach to organizational structure has evolved and companies have evaluated better ways to approach how they conduct business. A recent development in organizational structure is the approach known as Holacracy. Although there are many different organizational designs that could benefit a company, Holacracy offers a unique approach that eliminates the need for management titles and allows the company to be self-sufficient. Holacracy has many advantages and disadvantages as well. It is vital for a company to review their organizational structure to determine if this structure would ultimately benefit the company. It is important to weigh out the advantages and disadvantages; evaluate how other companies have performed with Holacracy; and determine a plausible method for implementation.
