Print it, read it carefully, and refer to it throughout the semester!Course ObjectiveThis course is designed to teach the student about the use of Information Systems and Decision Sciences (ISDS) in business. Topics will include Computer Concepts, the use of Windows 10 and file management, as well as Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Access and Excel as these are the tools the student is most likely to utilize throughout his/her college career and beyond.SIMnet Custom Access Code This course does not have a book. Instead, there is a custom SIMnet access code that each student must purchase. The code CANNOTbe shared with other classmates. Every student is required to have this information in order to take tests and complete assignments. Without this access code, a student cannot pass this class! The code is used to provide access to the SIMnet application which is a simulated environment where students will practice and learn Microsoft Office as well as the Computer Concept tools.The access code will be available for purchase at the local area bookstores. However, a student can alsochoose to purchase the code directly online at . Make sure you select thecorrect instructor and section when you register in SIMnet. All work previously completed is cleared by SIMnet when a student changes sections. There is an option to use SIMnet for a trial period of 14 days. After 14 days, the student would need to purchase SIMnet to continue using it for the remainder of the course. This feature allows ALL students tostay up-to-date with assignments due early in the semester. If you need technical assistance, please contact SIMnet technical support at lsu.simnetonline.comYou do not need the entire Microsoft Office 2016 Suite installed on your computer to complete the lessons in SIMnet. Testing ProceduresAll exams will be computer based. All exams will be held in the Computer Testing Center in Himes Hall. Studentsare responsible for scheduling ALL of their own exams using the Computer Testing Center website: . I WILL NOT SCHEDULE EXAMS for students. I typically teach over 600 students a semester and this is just not feasible.When you schedule an exam correctly, you will receive a confirmation email. KEEP IT as it serves as your receipt in case there is a problem. All exams have a specific testing window in which they can be taken. The dates for the testing windows can be found on the schedule (posted in Moodle) as well as the weekly agenda in Moodle. You will haveto select the specific day and time within that window to take the respective exam.
