POLS 1336 – Review Sheet – Exam One – Fall 2018 (Saturdays) Listed on the following pages are the MAJORITY of the topics that WILL show up on Exam One. Please note that these are NOT all of the topics you will see on Exam One! There will be a few topics on Exam One that are not listed here. Please also be aware that a single topic may show up as multiple questions on the exam, and answering a single question on the exam may require knowledge of multiple topics from this review sheet. In order to get good grades on my exams, you should have routinely attended class, taken good lecture notes, and then studied your notes and the review sheet posted here. Do NOT look up review sheet answers online! Sometimes you will be able to find the correct answers online, and sometimes you won’t be able to. However, you should be able to find all the answers from my class lectures. I will NOT answer questions about review sheet topics! The time to ask questions about these topics was any day BEFORE this review sheet was posted. The reason I do not answer questions about review sheet topics is because if I did that, some students who rarely (or never) read the assigned chapters and that rarely (or never) attended class and took good notes would be getting the majority of the answers that they need for the exam directly from me, and I strongly believe that laziness should not be rewarded. Exam One will be given IN CLASS (on Saturday, 10/06, from 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM). The exam will be an online exam that you access through our class Blackboard page, so you MUST bring with you either a laptop or tablet to take the exam on. You will be given a CODE in class that you WILL NEED to take the exam. Any student that fails to enter the CORRECT CODE for the exam will be given a ZERO for their exam grade. The reason I am giving you a code in class is to ensure that you show up to take the exam in class, which helps to reduce students’ ability to cheat on the exam. Before taking Exam One, make sure that your laptop or tablet is reliable and that your battery is FULLY CHARGED . Keep in mind that there are very few electrical outlets in the classroom, so showing up with a device that is not charged could mean that you will be unable to take the exam (resulting in a grade of ZERO). You should also attempt to log onto Blackboard with the device you plan to use before the day of the exam to make sure that your device and/or internet browser is compatible with Blackboard.
