Abstract This research proposal will analyze and summarize educational content that discusses teacher shortages and the impact it has on student learning.The reviewed proposal will provide information to answer the following questions; 1) Why is there a teacher shortage? and 2) How does the shortage of teachers and placement of underqualified teachers impact student learning?
Teacher pay rates, student behaviors, and class sizes are very important underlying concerns that promotes the shortages of the teachers. Teacher have very high demands, but aren’t treated with the respect they deserve as mentioned, “U.S. school districts need to do a better job retaining effective teachers by creating reasonable job expectations and support to help them meet complex pedagogical and social demands they face” (Ross, 2017).
Purpose of the study The purpose of the study is to gather data on issues such as teacher shortages, why there is a teacher shortages, what is done about this issue, and how does this issue impact the quality of student learning.
