His research interests include topics in empirical corporate finance such as executive compensation, intangible assets, capital structure, etc. He has a B.Sc. in mechanical engineering and has worked in Oil and Gas industry for several years. Brief Description Students learn about investment and financing in this core course. The investment decision allocates scarce resources to projects in the organization, and involves asset valuation, capital budgeting, risk management, working capital management and performance assessment. The financing decision chooses sources of cash to finance the investment decisions and involves capital structure, financial instruments, the risk-return trade-off, financial planning and the cost of capital. Ethical considerations and management in the global context are integrated into these topics. FINE 2000 p. 2 Understand the relationship between Corporate Finance and Accounting Learn the basic concepts of the time value of money (TVM) and how to apply these concepts to real world financial situations. Develop the skills to be able to use the Texas BAII Plus calculate TVM and cash flow problems Evaluate the financial feasibility of a new project using different evaluation techniques. Analyse and measure corporate performance using a variety of ratios and other comparative tools. Understand the various forms of financing available to a company and be able to value bonds, stocks, and other financial securities Deliverables at a Glance The learning of corporate finance occurs through both a conscientious preparation for course lectures, and the active participation in classroom activities. Class lectures will consist of a review of key concepts as well as a variety of other learning activities.
