Faith in God and His purpose can guide and direct a person through difficult circumstances. Soul Surfer helps people realize that even in a horrific situation such as a fatal shark attack one can with a few adaptions, conquer fear and overcome any obstacle. Bethany’s motive for writing this book is to believe in oneself and God. Born in Hawaii in 1990, Bethany Hamilton starts competitive surfing at the age of eight. Ever since her childhood, she always follows and honors her Savior, Jesus Christ. Bethany’s life changes on October 31, 2003, when she is only thirteen years old. She becomes a victim of a shark attack. While surfing, a shark bites off her left arm up to her shoulder. By the time, she arrives at the hospital she loses over 60% of her blood and is in hypovolemic shock. Bethany survives. After
