Regulatory requirements such as safe staffing ratios, types of licensed or certified employees, and patient experiences all impact reimbursement for each entity. Healthcare facilities and organizations make countless efforts on considering how they can best include patients in their care. By including not only patients but their families as well, they can improve the overall care the patient receives.Regulatory requirements for healthcare organizations mandate that in order to provide services; the organization must follow certain set laws. Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Service (CMS) and the Texas Department of State Health Services are two of these such servicesin the state of Texas. One example is proper licensing of personnel that work in the facility. Each physician, nurse, and allied personnel licensing must be up to date, and education for these licenses must be documented along with required testing and continuing education documentation as required for each license. If a failure of any of the above occurs, a reportable offense occurs, and regulatory agencies such as the Joint Commission can cite an organization which then could affect reimbursement. Reimbursements are payments granted by organizations such as the Centers for Medicaidand Medicare Services (CMS) and are critical because they determine the revenue a provider receives or does not receive. Organizations such as CMS focus on improving patient safety and outcomes through financial penalties for lack of poor performance (Roussel, 2016). With this

Patient and Family Centered Care Tool (PFCC)Please see separately attached document for completed self-assessment tool.Setting DescriptionThe patient and family-centered care organization used in the self-assessment tool is for alarge private for-profit hospital. This organization currently operates three health systems with over fourteen hospitals. It is the fourth largest employer in my city with a medical staff of more than four-hundred physicians and over thirty-four hundred employees. It is recognized as one of the nation’s best-performing hospitals in the top one hundred based on a clinical, operational and patient satisfaction metrics and data. The CMS rates this organization with four stars for patient experience in 2017 (BSA, n.d.). This rating is due to over fifty quality measures reflecting positive outcomes for common health conditions. The population served by this hospital are Hispanic, Caucasian, Black or African American, Asian, American Indian and others to only name a few.
