The Massie Trial, an incident that shaped the image of Hawaii in 1931, brought along many controversies and drama to the isolated islands. Many know about the death of Joseph Kahahawai, who was put on trial, but don’t know the in-depth details about the case. the facts of the case need to be talked about and people need to know of the injustice of the case. One of the main facts about the case that many people do not know is that the way that the 5 local men, who were seen the perpetrators, were brought in was not just. According to Thalia Massie, the woman who claimed to have been raped by a group of locals, the car they were driving was very vague and it was too dark for her to see their faces and she did not get their license plate either. Though she somehow got the information of the people the police officers of the men they were bringing in. When the police officers brought them in she miraculously got a description of the men and the car that they were driving. This is only one of the unjust things that occurred during this trial.
