SEXISM OCCURS IN A DREAM COMPANY LIKFE UBER 3 Sexism Occurs in a Dream Company like Uber Sexism widely occurs in the workforce. Uber, for example, was one of the most targeted companies for sexism. There were several times where women reported these cases to upper management, but no further action was taken until much later. People think that one of the main forms of sexism is unequal wages, but there are far more forms of sexism that occurred at Uber other than payrate. Susan Fowler was very excited when she landed her dream job at Uber, as a site reliability engineer (SRE). The culture at Uber was known to be a friendly environment for women to work in. On Fowler’s first day of work, she was not too fond of the inappropriate messages that her manager sent her through the company chat. His messages basically said that he was looking for women to have sex with (Fowler, 2017). The first thing she immediately did was take screen shots of the messages to provide them to Human Resources (HR) as proof. When she reported her manager to HR, no action was taken against him since it was his first offense and a top performer in Uber (Fowler, 2017). HR gave her the option of either staying on the team or transferring to a different team.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
