Lexington and concord Fort Ticonderoga Bunker hill Quebec Trenton Saratoga Charleston York town After the French and Indian war, England had accumulated a massive debt and in hopes of relieving that burden they created the stamp act which placed taxes on almost all paper products. The US was very upset not over the tax that was normal but on the idea that they did not get a say in the matter hence “no taxation without representation” with this they decided to boycott on the English product that where classified under the stamp act. The British did not understand this American point of view due to the idea that the American had virtual representation just because they were part of the British Country. With this revolt England CHOOSES to remove the stamp act but establishes the declarative act which basically stated that though we are choosing to not tax you we do however hold the right to. Now while this is going on there is something else that is rubbing the US the wrong way and that is the idea that the British have chosen to leave their standing army in the US. This causes the US to be very suspicious since this is supposed to be time of the peace. This makes the US feel pressured and they start to mock these soldiers and one day the Americans went too far and the British soldiers shot and killed five Americans.
