Android vs iPhone
Introduction
In the past five years, the smartphone sector has witnessed a noticeable scuffle on a
yearly basis. Android and iPhone have turned out to be a typical power struggle of the Tech
giants, with all striving for supremacy and to gain a significant market share. In unison, the two
brands have fashioned a duopoly and account for over 97% in phone sales
(Hill). Once a major
threat to the two tech giants, Microsoft has fallen by the wayside with iPhones and android
devices now being the few options left that are worth considering. The fascinating news is that
the operating systems of both smartphone are excellent. They have far more in common
compared to what divides them and thus are widely preferred by the buyers of a new smartphone
today. Notwithstanding, there are some significant differences that users of Android or iPhone
consider important as deliberated in this paper.
Background
Android and iOS holds the lion's share in the mobile operating system market.
For iOS,
it is a mobile operating system fashioned and developed by Apple Inc

smartphones presently advanced by Google.
Whereas these two operating systems are the most
common to users of smartphones, several differences have been reported about them.
Controversy
First, in terms of affordability, the two mobile operating systems are far away different.
Apple has at all times been at the top end of the market in terms pricing with limited choice of
varieties (Zammetti 12). Consequently, iPhone comes second to android in terms of market
shales. Contrary, for variety and sheer scale, nothing can compete Android. Unlike Apple’s
iPhones, there is a variety of choice of low-cost android handsets from different manufacturers
(Zammetti 13). In addition, the point that android also tops the operating system market in free
apps for it is a natural best for the budget-sensitive users.
Android and Iphone are also very different in matters to do with calling and messaging.
For both platforms, basic calling and messaging functionalities are good. However they are quite
confusing on Android (Uddaraju 31). For android, many smartphones come with their own dialer
and messaging apps on top of Google’s messaging apps, or they exclude the Google apps.
Contrary, iMessage and FaceTime come pre-installed on each iPhone which makes it remarkably
easier for users to connect with their families and friends (Zammetti 26). Although iMessage is
considered very easy to use, it operates best when interconnecting with other iPhone users.
