Megan LuzarCWV-10111/16/18Glen BagleyBenchmark - Gospel Essentials The Christian Worldview is based on the belief of loving and living as Jesus did. He cameto restore the human condition because of his great love for us. Love is one of the characteristics of God outlined for us in the Bible. It is because of the Bible that humanity can determine the attributes of God. It is because of these attributes that God has demonstrated and Jesus has lived by, that the Christian faith is based on. Jesus came to this earth and offered his sinless life as a demonstration of how to live.GodNo one person can tell us what God is like, instead He reveals his characteristics to us in the Bible. It is from these characteristics that humanity can then infer what He would be like (Who is God, n.d). For example, Jeremiah 9:23-24 describes some of these characteristics. The latter part of these verses affirmed that God “exercises kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for in these I delight”. We can see that these verses indicate that God is fair, just, and kind. However, this is not the only time God’s characteristics were expressed in the Bible. Another example of this is Romans 11:33. This verse in Romans expresses the divine wisdom of the creator. It is stated that God’s wisdom is great and beyond our comprehension. From this, we caninfer that our God’s plan is immaculate, even if we cannot see it. This argument is further demonstrated in Jeremiah 29:11, where it is stated that God’s plan for our life is prosperous and 1
not to harm us. Some of the other characteristics that God possesses are grace and faithfulness. Inaddition to these, He is also eternal, immutable, omnipotent, omnipresent, omniscient, and holy (Bagley, 2018). These characteristics shape how Jesus lived his life, and in turn, how we should live ours. God, the creator, existed before his creation and therefore is sovereign, having supreme authority and absolute power over all things. Genesis 1 and 2 gives us the sequence of the creation and gives us an overview of the creation process. He created all things by speaking theminto existence and performed his tasks with order in mind. All things were created in perfect harmony and were classified as being “good” (Bagley, 2018).HumanityIn a Christian Worldview, humanity is valued over every other thing. Humanity, as a whole, was created in the image of God and because of this, we too have a spiritual being to us.
