In “Gord Downie and indigenous rights” by Candy Palmater, the author shows great emotion when she expresses how she felt when Gord Downie died. She was heartbroken and very upset when she found out his passing. But she had a different emotion when she heard about him receiving the Order of Canada “for his leadership as an Indigenous activist” (Palmater, 2017). She was very confused, because she knew many other activists that have stood up for the problems that's affecting indigenous people. She believes that others deserve the award more
