Her anxiety motivates her to prepare meticulously and rehearse material again and again. Is Susan’s reaction normal, or does she have an anxiety disorder? Explain two (2) criteria you used in arriving at your answer. Susan has an anxiety disorder since Susan experiences fear that’s why she has to prepare thoroughly before she can speak. She prepares to speak in advance to build confidence with herself when she is called upon to speak she has a type of anxiety disorder known as panic disorder. People with panic disorder have recurrent unexpected panic attacks, which are sudden periods of intense fear that may include pounding heart, or accelerated heart rate, sweating, trembling or shaking, sensations of shortness of breath, smothering, or choking, and feeling of impending doom. This forces her to prepare before speaking to drive away search fears (Coon, Dennis & John, 2004). Explain two (2) criteria you used in arriving at your answer. 1. Excessive anxiety and worry most days about many things Susan has expressed her fears
over a long period since each time she has to speak, she experiences panic which is a symptom of an anxiety disorder.
