The current challenge facing United Way are the number of charitablefoundations that are within the United States today. According to MichaelPorter and Mark Kramer, the number has doubled in the last 20 years alone.(Strategic Management, Dess, McNamara, Eisner, Lee. pgC222). Charitiessupporting 9/11, natural disasters, and diseases that are affecting peoplemore and more are taking the place of United Way’s initiative and providinganother ways to give. With the increase of charitable groups, people aregiving less to United Way and choosing to give to a specific cause, such asthe ones I just mentioned. In combination with this challenge, people whodonate want to know where and what their money is being used forspecifically.
