Valerie Munoz CWV-101 October 6, 2018 Dr. Luke Hoselton Benchmark - Gospel Essentials Worldview is, “A foundational set of assumptions to which one commits that serves as a framework for understanding and interpreting reality and that deeply shapes one’s behavior.” (Waddell, 2015, Beginning of Wisdom) A Christian Worldview centers those beliefs around God. You may think you know the essentials of Christian Worldview, or maybe you do not know the first thing about it, however while it is not difficult to understand there are many components to understand so it might seem a bit complicated. Christian Worldview goes beyond what you believe you may know from Genesis 1, that God created the Earth and all that is on it in 6 days, or that Jesus was sacrificed on the cross for our sins. Examining the essentials such as God, humanity, Jesus, and restoration can supply a clear view on what Christian Worldview is and how it effects our everyday lives. God The first thing we know about God can be found in Genesis 1, “In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.” God is the sovereign creator of all things. “ God the creator existed before his creation and is therefore sovereign, having supreme authority and absolute power over all things.” (Lecture 2, 2017) Genesis 1 and 2 goes over the creation of heaven and earth and all that is in between. It also includes the creation of Adam and Eve. According to Diffey in The Beginning of Wisdom God has many attributes including some that are unique to 1

him as the creator. They include: he is unchanging, eternal, all-powerful, all-knowing, and all- present. He is also described as, “…good, loving, just, jealous, faithful, and holy. God was also selfless. This can be seen in sending his only son to earth to die for our sins and bring us to salvation. Humanity Humanity was made in the image of God. Humanity has some of the characteristics of God. They can create simply for the purpose of beauty, they have the ability to think and reason at an extremely high level, they can explore and communicate with God, and they also can love.
