WHAT WERE THE REASONS THE BOMB SHOULD HAVE BEEN USED ON JAPAN? There are many reasons the atomic bomb had to used on Japan. One of them is the attack on Pearl Harbor. What happened with Pearl Harbor cost America a lot of lives. 170,000 lives were lost in the pacific war. If they invaded Japan with more soldiers it would cost America more lives so using the bomb was the easiest way to get Japan to surrender. Another reason was the U.S. already gave Japan 2 times to surrender and they never did. Also, Japan never responded to the Potsdam Declaration, so President Truman made the decision of sending the atomic bomb. The Bomb was dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki. After the bombing Japan did surrender and the war was over.
