Living on One Dollar is a documentary about four young men named Chris, Zach, Sean and Ryan. These for men will conduct an experiment, which will last 8 weeks (56 days). In this experiment the men are going to live in Guatemala in the village of Peña Blanca, and live on one dollar a day. The point that they are trying to address is how difficult it is to live in extreme poverty. Approximately 1.1 billion people live on one dollar a day across the globe. The American’s live in a shack with no bed, light or water and sleep on dirt floors. Their diet consists of rice and beans, sometimes bananas. The diet of the town’s people is beans, tortillas, lard and salt. The local economy in Peña Blanca is very poor; most of the economy is based on agriculture. To stimulate the lives of their neighbors, the young men make their income unpredictable by drawing a number out of a hat everyday which has the income for that day.
