Required Text and Materials: Accounting 1C with CengageNOW (27 th edition) by Warren, Reeve, and Duchac, published by Cengage Cengage Now Registration ( ) Course Key: E-Y84EY53B9WQD9 4 Scantrons for exams – Form 882-E Course Format: The course will be made up of lecture, problems, exercises, homework, quizzes, exams, and projects – all of which are intended to reinforce your reading of the chapters covered during that specific class period. Quizzes, exams, homework, and projects will assess your comprehension of the material. Class participation is critical to your success in learning the concepts covered. Student Learning Outcome (SLO) Identify elements of cost for a business and explain and analyze how costs are allocated and assessed for various users. Compare and contrast the cost accounting system for a manufacturer, merchandiser and service firm and distinguish the differences and similarities between financial reporting and cost accounting and utilize NPR and IRR for evaluating the financial viability of a business decision.
Course Expectations: I expect you to read the relevant pages of the textbook before coming to class, attend regularly, and actively participate. The course covers quite a bit of material, not all of which will be reviewed during class. Discussions/exercises are designed to build upon your preparation, not to replace it. Course Requirements: Online Exercises An exercise will be posted on Canvas for each chapter which you must manually complete and bring to the last class that the material will be covered. The best six scores will be recorded. Quizzes There will be weekly quizzes that focus on your comprehension of the material we are scheduled to cover that week . The day of the week that the quiz is given will not be announced ahead of time; i.e., it could be any day the class meets. Each quiz is worth 5 points for a total of 45 points. If you miss a quiz for any reason , you cannot make it up or reschedule it. You will be placed in a group that you can discuss the answers with before turning in your quiz.
