Identify the following individuals and their contributions to the Protestant Reformation: Martin Luther: The man that was the first to speak up against the Catholic church’s corruption. Although he posted the 95 theses onto the door of Wittenberg’s cathedral in 1517, he did hid away for many years, and did not act like a leader to the Protestants that he created. John Calvin: In Martin Luther’s absence, John Calvin stepped up as the leader of the Protestant Reformation. Calvin took Luther’s original ideas and added to them, his thoughts being called “Calvinism”. He suggested things such as predestination, and original sin. Henry VIII: The king that is famous for going through six wives. And although religion wasn’t on his mind, Henry VIII is responsible for bringing the Protestant Reformation to England. Because the pope refused to approve a divorce to the king, he decides to marry his mistress
