Welcome to the 30-hour Texas Principles of Real Estate I Pre-License Course! When you complete this course, you will have a much clearer and fuller knowledge of the laws governing Texas real estate and how they will apply to your career as a licensee. IMPORTANT EDUCATION UPDATE: Effective September 1, 2012, pre-license education requirements for a sales agent license changed from 210 classroom hours (60 hours of which may be in related courses) to 180 hours of specific qualifying real estate courses. An applicant MUST complete the following courses (which total 180 hours) before authorization will be provided to register to take the exam: Real Estate Principles –two 30 hour courses: Principles of Real Estate 1 and Principles of Real Estate 2 Law of Agency – 30 hours Law of Contracts – 30 hours Promulgated Contract Forms – 30 hours Real Estate Finance – 30 hours Related course credit may no longer be used to meet education requirements for a sales agent’s license. The initial license will issue for a 2-year period. The new licensee must complete 90 hours of additional qualifying real estate credit or must have accumulated a total of 270 qualifying real estate course hours by the end of the first 2-year renewal period. For reporting purposes, the system will track your online time. At the end of each chapter in this course, you will be given a short quiz. The quizzes include questions from the material presented in the chapter.
