The previous year was a rough year for me because I moved to a new grade level that I wasn't very competent in the standards and content. I was asked by one of my colleagues if "I felt confident teaching second grade?" I just looked and stared at the person because I was so nervous and upset that I had to teach a new grade level. I had taught first grade for five years and was very knowledgeable about the standards and the content. I had to get out of my comfort zone because I was informed that I was going to be teaching Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies, so, therefore, all I could think about was I had to learn a new set of standards and content. Then after finding out of this information, it was brought to my attention that the districthad bought a new mathematics curriculum that I was going to have to go for training during the summer. I started looking online at the curriculum's website so that I could get an early start on learning the information.
