Evelyn Liou Classical Mythology Igler Journal # 7 I read about Apollo, the god of light and the sun, and Coronis, a mortal. It was about the love that Apollo has for Coronis. Coronis is the daughter of Phlegyas, king of the Lapiths. She wasn’t in love with him though because she was in love with another guy. She was also pregnant because Apollo had his way with her. A bird told Apollo the news so he sent his twin sister, Artemis, to kill Coronis. After she was killed, her body was placed on a funeral pyre and burned up.

Unformatted text preview: Apollo removed the child that was in Coronis named Aeculapius and gave it to Chiron who raised the child. That was the only good thing. The lesson of this story shows that even if you are really like somebody, they may be in love with someone else. Something bad could happen to the person you really like which happen to Coronis because she liked somebody else and a bird told Apollo the news. People should be attracted to each other instead of falling for somebody else which is stupid and bad....
