NEGATIVE THINKING AND A WANDERING MIND 2 Happiness is something that is generally perceived to be the goal in life. Even if an individual has a nice car, a big house, or a well-paying job, what does it matter if that person doesn’t feel an overall sense of satisfaction with how his or her life is going? Many researchers seek to understand just what makes humankind happy- or what helps to induce unhappiness. There are many studies that have been done to answer the question. The TedTalks that will be discussed were presented by researchers who also address the idea of happiness and what factors play into the negative emotions that humans tend to experience often. One talk by Dr. Alison Ledgerwood titled “Getting Stuck in the Negatives (and How to Get Unstuck)” discusses how certain ways of thinking about an issue tend to stick in people's heads. It presents the “glass half-empty” scenario and seeks to answer the question of why negative emotions tend to last longer than joyful ones.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
