Federal Gov't pursued to strengthen national economy after the War of 1812 as that of The Tariff of 1816 protected Americans manufacturing and the 2nd Bank of U.S held the currency strong. Establishment by the courts of the federal gov't's supremacy over interstate commerce promoted growth of national economy. 2. Henry Clay's American System supported economic nationalism, yet others didn't agree since they felt tied to that sections of the country. Extending slavery is an example, some considered it important while others disagreed. 3. James Monroe's term in office began with peace and prosperity and was initially labeled the "Era of Good Feelings". The "Panic of 1891" and the Missouri Compromise ended it. 4. This included the extension of America's contested boundaries and resumption of trade with Great Britain which followed with the Transcontinental Treaty. The Monroe Doctrine proclaimed neutrality in Europe affairs and is considered as an accomplishment. 5. He won the election although seeming low, due to rallying Sers and Ners with him, appealed to the common man. Jackson's election opened a new era in politics.
