Taylor Bennett Ms. Leasum English 105 Greed and Power in College Athletics Collegiate sports are running wild in a field of endorsements and high contracts. The purity of each sport diminishes year by year as the each sport becomes more political and more money is involved. The reason is greed and power to be the best. In Thad Williamsons essay “Bad As They Wanna Be,” he brings up many good points on why college sports have come to the point that they have. He wants to inform people with a passion for college sports, on the status of its being. Williamsons purpose is to try to turn this ongoing trend around and bring college sports back to the way they were before Nike, Adidas and other large corporations took over the college game. Williamsons pathos comes from his childhood love for sports and the knowledge of how it used to be. He talks about growing up in North Carolina and being around college towns all the time and knowing the fiery passion that exists for these sports. North Carolina is a huge state for college basketball and Williamson says that the passion
