2 Literature Review: Inpatient Psychiatric Fall Risk The purpose of this paper is to deliberate evidence gleaned from quality studies that will seek to discover evidence in support of the research question asked. The PICOT question is: For patients with a mental illness, will a fall risk assessment specific to mental health patients provide a better assessment than universal fall assessment tools, resulting in decreased falls? A literature review of the following studies will provide a cumulative summary of fall risks related to mental health populations. Literature reviews seek to contextually summarize discovered evidence on a topic (Polit & Beck, 2017, p.733). Measured studies in this review follow Walden University’s hierarchy of evidence pyramid (Laureate International Universities, 2017)

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
