My name is Brock Powers..… The Ohio Council of Teachers of Mathematics was created in 1951 with the intentions of bringing together all educators in the field of mathematics in Ohio into one organization. There is currently 3500 registered members in Ohio. The current president is Mr. Steve Miller. Presidents of OCTM serve a term of two years. One notable past president is Daniel Brahier. 2 OCTM Google DOCS Mission Statement Page Their mission statement “is to promote quality teaching and learning of mathematics in Ohio.” OCTM strives to achieve this goal through six actions bulleted also available on their mission statement document. (Read six bullet points and summarize each statement) OCTM does a great job at bringing together the mathematics community and getting everyone involved. They strive to help every teacher reach their maximum potential and be able to set students up for success. 3 OCTM Homepage Now, going back to the homepage, it can be a little hard for a first timer to navigate through the website because there are a lot of random links scattered throughout the website in my
2 Search Engine “OCTM Conference” OCTM Homepage OCTM Annual Conference Links opinion. There are many useful features on the home page. The first feature I would like to recognize is the search engine, located at the very top of the homepage. If you want to find a specific event or document, just type it into the text box and hit search this site. For example, if you want to find information about past or future OCTM annual conferences, just search “OCTM Conference” and you will get detailed information on each annual conference. This is very useful for when you have trouble locating something on the website. Another feature on the homepage is information on OCTM 2016 State, District, and Scholarship award winners.
