Ethics;
moral principles that govern a person's behavior or the
conducting of an activity. Garrett Hardin’s "Lifeboat Ethics" is a very
interesting piece. Although in my opinion it actually has very little substance
or anything other than
Garrett Hardin’s imperious tone and how he thinks we
should properly help the poor.
"Give a man a fish and he will eat for a day; teach him how to fish and
he will eat for the rest of his days."
Garrett Hardin uses this ancient proverb
to say that we do not need to give these poverty
stricken countries our
surplus food but we do need to teach them how to make their own. This is an
interesting theory so to speak.
