Resources Read/review the following resources for this activity: Textbook: Chapters 1, 2 Lectures: Chapters 1, 2 Files: Presentations (Cengage, 9e) – Chapters 1, 2 (in Course Documents) Minimum of 2 resources for initial post (one for “Scottsboro boys”; one for case on individual rights) Introduction Powell v. Alabama is a fascinating study in American history in the 1930s and much has been written about the case and what happened to the defendants. There are also a number of excellent Internet sites and books that examine the case. Initial Post Instructions For your initial post, do the following: Use the Internet to learn more about the “Scottsboro boys” in Powell v. Alabama. Then, investigate one of the cases from the 1960s that increased individual rights within the criminal justice context. Detail the importance of the decision, what Constitutional amendment the case addressed, and how the case impacted the everyday working of the criminal justice system.
