Hossieny 1 Evil in the environment constitutes human activities that damage the natural phenomena. According to James Waller, “evil is anything detrimental to the well-being of living things”. He claims evil leads to the destruction of property, deaths, and damage to the reputation of individuals. 1 According to Jean Cooper’s Encyclopedia of Traditional Symbols , water is a symbol of life since it may cause adverse effects on the population if contaminated through environmental evils such as pollution. False news and pollution such as the one experienced by residents in the Grass Narrows case constitutes evil in the environment since they have negative effects on human beings while benefiting the creators of the evils. Evil is anything that harms human beings by causing illnesses, suffering, or death as argued by Waller. 2 In response to the environmental crisis, John Bemrose states that we have “lost contact with our inner selves”. 3 This indicates that human beings have lost conscience and are destroying the environment without thinking of the consequences. Some effects of evil in the environment are long term since they require reconstruction and measures that try to restore the original state. Genocide also constitutes evil in the environment since it leads to massive loss of lives. Some of the cases were experienced in Native America-North (15,000,000 people), Australia (10,000), and Uganda (300,000) among others. 4 False news refers to stories that are made up and manipulated to appear like credible reports from journalists. False news is posted online to millions of viewers tarnishing the image 1 1 James E. Waller. Becoming evil: How Ordinary People Commit Genocide and Mass Killing . The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
