Field Experience A: Content Knowledge Todd A. Kraus EDU – 470 Research-Based Methods and Strategies of Teaching Mathematics Course December 12, 2018 I observed Mrs. Sharon Schluterbuschs’ classroom for 5 th grade mathematics on December 11 th and 12 th . Mrs. Schluterbuschs’ class included 2 IEP students and 1 ELL student that required extra attention. The lessons that observed were on Classifying Quadrilaterals. The students were shown a chart that they helped to previously develop and then asked to share their observations about the chart. Students individually raised their hands and described vocabulary such as triangles, obtuse, and quadrilaterals. The class was then asked to brainstorm as many different quadrilaterals as they could while Mrs. Schluterbusch recorded the answers on the board. She asked the ELL student to come up to the chart and point to and name an appropriate quadrilateral. After naming and discussing all six quadrilateral terms displayed on the chart she
