RESEARCH PAPER PROPOSAL Baptismal Practices and the Eucharist THESIS STATEMENT This paper will argue that if baptism is for believers of Jesus Christ, then infants do not or should not get baptized until he or she reaches the age of understanding and making the decision to on his or her own to accept Jesus Christ as Savior and be baptized, and the same would hold true of partaking in the Eucharist. PRELIMINARY OUTLINE I. BAPTISM AND EUCHARIST IN CHRISTIAN HISTORY a. Baptism b. Eucharist II. BAPTISM IN MODERN HISTORY a. Infant b. Believers c. Immersion or Sprinkling III. EUCHARIST IN MODERN HISTORY a. Must be a believer b. Need to be baptized? c. Minimum Age? IV. SALVATION CONCLUSION One needs to be a believer in Jesus Christ and demonstrate what it means to be baptized. Baptism is generally by immersion unless the person is ill, dying or disabled. Only then can sprinkling be used. Sprinkling of water on infants’ heads is not baptism, and baptism does not get one into heaven.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
