NURN 236. Chest Pain Simulation Case #3: George Smith is a 64 year-old, admitted with ACS (acute coronary syndrome). He is undergoing a cardiac workup for causes of his chest pain. During this simulation the student will be able to 1. Assess the patient’s chest pain using the “PQRST” method. 2. Explain EKG changes seen with ischemic chest pain. 3. Demonstrate nursing interventions in the care of a patient with active chest pain. 4. Administer appropriate drug therapy as ordered. 5. Recognize cardiac dysrhythmias as they occur. 6. Initiate appropriate nursing interventions for certain dysrhythmias. 7. Recognize changes in assessment that may lead to cardiac arrest. 8. Begin safe and effective CPR. 9. Work as a team to successfully return patient to baseline.
