ENGLISH LANGUAGE 2 English Language In this research project, the significance of rich vocabulary and phonics to learners after 6th grade is discussed at a critical analysis following the fact that it is neglected after the transitional level in U.S curriculum. Similarly, the research will also explain the importance of teaching phonics and vocabulary to learners after the transition stage to strengthen and perfect verbal and reading skills in ELLs. The research also aims to portray how ELLs lack the necessary skills in English which are the primary teaching language in states. Equally significant, following the National research Panel it is evident that teaching and learning methods employed by teachers at different levels of education have less purpose in impacting Ell's vocabulary and phonics understanding (Slavin & Cheung, 2004 p 45). The teachers in United States have drastically failed in identifying Vocabulary and Phonemes as a major problem in Ell’s learners based on the generalization of learners understanding.
