Does this matter to you? 2)What factors do you believe most contributed to Willingham receiving the death penalty in this case? The factors I believe most contributed to Willingham receiving the death penalty punishment are: the findings from the fire department investigators and the testimony of the jailhouse informant, Johnny Webb. After the fire, the investigators searched the house to find the reason for the fire. They eliminated all accidental causes because they could not find any wire shorting. They then concluded it was arson due to the abnormal burn patterns and the positive sample for charcoal lighter fluid. The investigators mentioned that the burn patterns looked unusual and it looked like there were signs of accelerant poured in the children’s room. The investigators took a sample ofthe aluminum threshed plate and it was tested positive for charcoal lighter fluid. These
