The Good, the Bad, the Ugly Second Response: The film The Good, the Bad, the Ugly is a great Italian western film. Sergio Leone’s work in this film has me wanting to watch more. I will discuss why the film was shown in the course, cultural construction, and the moral. The film The Good, the Bad, the Ugly was shown in this course to show us a different type of an Italian film. Most known Italian films we have watched so far has had some type of recognized romanticism. This film is known for Sergio Leones distinctive use of violence, tension, and stylistic gunfights. We discussed in class that the film is also known for Leone's use of long shots and close-up cinematography. This film is far different than any other film we have watched in class. The filmmakers construct a somewhat negative image of the U.S. by making everyone seem greedy for money. In class we said the motive of the people in the film was money.
