Project Management Knowledge Areas 2 According to the Project Management Institute (PMI), The Project Management Knowledge Areas are broken down into process groups of which each is essential to the success of project management. Although the knowledge areas are interrelated, they are defined separately. In this short paper, we will identify the ten knowledge areas and how they apply to the restocking project of a high-end retail project in a stockroom. Project Integration Management includes the coordination of all the project elements and consists of planning. During the planning process, it is crucial to discuss the areas of cost, risks, scheduling, and teams (Meredity, Shafer, & Mantel, 2018). During a project planning, process management gathered leaders within the stock room to address the issue of clients waiting for items for over 5 minutes. To expedite the latency process of pulling merchandise we had to make changes in the stockroom. During this process, we discussed the team, the cost of paying the stock associates overtime and how this would affect the opening team if we had to give the employees working on the project the following day off to recuperate. The process of cost and pulling employees from the early shift to work an overnight may have its risks as we were pulling seasoned employees for the project leaving less experienced employees to work alone. We factored in the scheduling of the project as well as those who would operate the early shift during open hours. Once the planning process is finalized, we move on to executing the plan. Project Scope Management consists of the initiation process and covers the evaluation and selection of a project; it also includes the governance mechanisms needed for ensuring projects deliver the benefits to the organization that was intended
