RUNNING HEAD ABSTRACT This paper will examine the construct of establishing rules, norms, and ethical guidelines at the beginning of a new group therapy session. This paper will also include the roles and responsibility that must be established by both the participants/clients and the facilitator/cofacilitator. During the construct, the group leader must ensure that the fabric is stitched in ethics. Group leaders should consider the long-term consequences of not maintaining the foundation, what are some of the disadvantages and benefits of the decisions they make that could’ve an impact on the group. The most important priority should be the safety, confidentiality, and overall concern of the members; This paper will also look at goals, strive for fairness, take accountability and show respect for everyone. Facilitators will set high ethical standards and act in accordance with APA guidelines and group rules. which influence values of the group through their conduct. Both leaders and members have the ability to serve as role models for other members based on where their at in the group treatment process. As one member prepares for transition they can impact newer members and show them the expectations and boundaries set within the group. They are perceived as honest, trustworthy, courageous
