Bonnie Basher ESL-433N December 14, 2018 Amy Southwick Proficiency Level Analysis In Mrs. Jensen’s 7 th grade class, she uses the Azella or the Arizona English Language Learners Assessment. This assessment is a standards based assessment that meets both state and federal requirements to measure students’ English language proficiency. (Azella, 2018) After the assessment is taken, the level of each student is established: whether they are pre-emergent, emergent, basic, or intermediate. The Azella scores will definitely help in Mrs. Jensen’s class when she determines which group level to put each student into. There are four different groups in her English language arts activities in which she will divide the class: reading, writing, listening, and speaking. After reviewing over the class list, Mrs. Jensen will be able to place students according to their ability level in each activity. Since Ramon is Pre-Emergent and Emergent levels in reading,
