1. Smith (2006) asserted that a strengths-based perspective is important because “it represents a dramatic paradigm shift” (p. 16). Explain what she meant by this reference to a shift and why it is perceived to be beneficial to clients. 2. Define the concept of resiliency and describe its salience to counseling in the twenty-first century. How might counselors foster resiliency both in themselves and in their clients? I believe that when Smith, retorted that a “ strengths-based perspective is important because “it represents a dramatic paradigm shift” she meant that years ago, our practice to healing had been very barbaric, and did a lot of hard than it did well to clients. For example, there were so many things that was done in the name of practice of counseling there were some extremes performed, like shocking patients or performing surgery on them for the way they think, or even going as far as putting them in wards that harmed them.

As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
