Pre-AP Geometry Clements High School Course Description The Geometry GT/Pre-AP course emphasizes logical thinking and its application in the informal justification and formal proof of conjectures. Students solve problems by synthetic (traditional), coordinate, and/or transformational methods. Problem solving applies the algebra previously learned, emphasizes connections, and involves non-routine applications. Students are expected to independently identify the appropriate techniques needed to complete their work. Computer investigations allow and require independent thinking during class time. The semesters are outlined below: Terms 1 and 2 Terms 3 and 4 Point, Line, Plane, and Angle Relationships Right Triangles Logical Reasoning Perimeter, Circumference, and Area Construction with Compass and Straight Edge Geometric Probability Writing Two-Column, Flow, and Paragraph Proofs 3-D Views, Surface Area, and Volume Pythagorean Theorem Circles Distance and Midpoint Relationships Non-Euclidean Geometry Parallel Lines and Angles Coordinates in 3-D Angles and Triangles Polygons and Quadrilaterals Transformations and Symmetry Probability Ratios, Proportions, and Similarities Book study Sphereland by Dionys Burger Congruence and Inequalities in Triangles Determining Your Grade: You earn your grade . ### What students are saying

• As a current student on this bumpy collegiate pathway, I stumbled upon Course Hero, where I can find study resources for nearly all my courses, get online help from tutors 24/7, and even share my old projects, papers, and lecture notes with other students.

• The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
