Justin Giese Kalila Bohsali English 110 October 26, 2018 Belief Manifesto: Racial Equality The current ethnically divided climate the United States finds itself in, is a major factor for my personal manifesto. I, like many Americans find myself saddened by our current decisive state of affairs regarding respectful and equitable treatment of others who come from different ethnic backgrounds. The fact that not only Americans are being discriminated against, but that others coming from foreign nations wanting to enter our country seeking asylum are not being allowed access because of their ethnic background, is short of alarming. Coming from a very diverse ethnic background this resonates deeply with me. As my parental grandparents were of German and Swedish descent and my maternal grandparents are of Mexican and Mexican American descent, I feel I truly represent what America was founded upon. My ancestors’ belief of wanting to better their lives as well as that of their offspring has heavily influenced my core views on ethnic and racial equalities across social and political platforms. Social racial discrimination may negatively impact one’s perception of them self. The continual harassment and implicit racism can leave lasting impacts on one’s ethical and moral reasoning.
