I have chosen the poems Aquatinted with the Night by Robert Frost, Somewhere I have Travelled, Gladly Beyond by E.E. Cummings, and My Son the Man by Sharon Olds. The literal meaning of the title, Aquatinted with the Night, broken down means, “to make familiarize with the night.” The word night could represent depression or loneliness. In the first stanza, the narrator is talking how about his depression. He uses rain as a metaphor for his isolation from the world as he is walking in the city. The title relates to Frost’s poem as the narrator feels depressed because he is isolated in a world filled with people, thus making him unhappy. Somewhere I have Traveled, Gladly Beyond is a metaphorical poem written by E.E Cummings. In this poem, he is referring to love. The title has a connection to this piece as Cummings is discussing his journey of love with a woman who has opened his heart like no other.

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
