PROJECT RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Collins 2 Resource Management The textbook defines project resource management as “ the processes to identify, acquire, and manage the resources needed for the successful completion of the project . These processes help ensure that the right resources will be available to the project manager and project team at the right time and place” (PMBOK) . Estimate activity resources The first step for resource management is estimating the team resources and materials needed to complete the project . The project manager must estimate all components for the project including, materials, equipment, and supplies necessary to fulfill the project to completion . The first step for a manager is creating a plan, by creating a project scope it will portray how the project will be completed step by step and gives methods on how to finish it . After the scope is complete the manager will create a set of documents such as, an activity list, cost estimates, resource calendar, and a risk register to determine if the project is worth the risk . Throughout this step the manager will create an ample of documents breaking down the structure of the project to present to see if the project will get approved or not . If the project does get approved the lead manager will next move on to acquiring the resources needed to go forward with the project . Acquire resources

PROJECT RESOURCE MANAGEMENT Collins 3 During the step the project manager will start obtaining the materials and supplies needed, this is a very crucial step for the manager because without obtaining the correct resources at the right costs could end the project before it even starts . The manager must work hard to negotiate materials at the price they estimated in step one, if certain materials cannot be negotiated it could easily throw off the budget and the manager will have to make that money up elsewhere . Throughout this step the project schedule as well as the resource calendar is made, a plan will be set in place when and how long certain materials are needed . The project schedule must be very detailed and followed to a tee by the team or the completion time could very easily be delayed .

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
