There are many different meanings of literature based on who is being asked. In my opinion, literature is writing that is formed from ones ideas and thoughts to reveal a hidden message to the reader. For example, The Great Gatsby , written by F. Scott Fitzgerald, is a form of literature. In that novel, Fitzgerald revealed that the American Dream is unachievable as the world is a cruel place(Smith). Harper Lee also portrayed a form of literature in his book, To Kill a Mockingbird , when disclosing that every human should be treated respectfully (Litteacher8). Finally, in the book titled, Night, by Elie Wiesel, many themes were developed. One of which included inhumanity, when discussing about how Jews were being treated during the time of the Holocaust (LitCharts). In the essay titled, What is Literature, the author summarizes that literature is not only existent in books, but is used in everyday conversation ().

The ability to access any university’s resources through Course Hero proved invaluable in my case. I was behind on Tulane coursework and actually used UCLA’s materials to help me move forward and get everything together on time.
