Course : Geography 1000 Assignment #1 Recollections of Geography and Using Geography in Everyday Life 1) What types of geographic inquiry did you study secondary school? How would you describe the geographic knowledge that you received in school regarding the contemporary approaches to geography discussed in this class ? In secondary school, I had one course that taught geography. In the course, I learned about how specific clusters of people used the land to their advantage. I was taught that the physical attributes of the land corresponded with the human groups because the human migrated to specific areas in the world to grow crops or have a close transportation system. The geographical points in the United States that were of the most value were areas with river travel and land with great soil for crops. Regarding the contemporary approaches to geography discussed in class, I was not aware of the concept of situation. I was taught mostly about site and regions. In this
